Day 3 – 4

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities and cultural experiences in Kalahari.

Twice daily game drives or full-day excursions take place in open 4×4 vehicles and directed towards the seasonal movements of the wildlife. As we are in a National Park, we adhere to the regulations of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks restricting off-road driving and night driving

An interpretive, guided “Bushman Walk” led by camp staff members who hail from the San Bushman clans of the area provides insights into their traditional lifestyles through dress, activities and a short walk (800 metres) in the immediate camp area.

Sleep out under the starry starry skies of the Kalahari and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of Africa on the roof of your unit.

The Kalahari is famous for its clear night skies, and with no light pollution it is the ideal spot from which to stargaze and view the incredible formations of the stars and planets. Our guides are also known to dabble with astronomy and will take you on a tour through the constellations.

Day 6 – 7

Enjoy two full days of activities.

Pelo Camp lies in a true wetland area of the Okavango Delta, an ideal habitat for the elusive sitatunga antelope and common red lechwe. Hippo and crocodile are also regularly sighted. In the dry season lechwe, impala, elephant are prevalent, with lion, leopard and buffalo sighted occasionally. Birdlife is exceptional with the largest concentrations of Endangered wattled crane found here as well as slaty egrets, rosy-throated longclaws, African skimmer and Pel’s fishing-owl.

Glide seamlessly along the waterways of Pelo in a mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) and take in the abundance of water-loving wildlife and birds. Boat trips in a 12-seater boat allow for good wildlife viewing in the channels of the Delta further away.

Take a walk on one of a number of low sandy islands and learn about the River Bushman way of life in this area.

Fishing with a limited supply of basic equipment (spinner rods and a small range of lures) is on offer seasonally on a catch-and-release basis.
