Pelo Camp
Place: Fittingly, Pelo means ‘heart’ in Setswana as, from the air, the island on which this beautiful camp is situated appears heart-shaped. As it is surrounded by permanent water, activities focus on mokoro excursions in the open, shallow floodplains as well as boating and walking. Accommodation: This intimate camp’s five spacious tents look out over the surrounding water. The main area comprises a tented dining area and lounge situated under impressive wild date palms, jackalberry and Natal mahogany trees. There is also a raised viewing platform built onto an old anthill. Purpose: Pelo is an excellent example of a light-footprint camp, built using natural materials, operating on 100% solar power, and offering low-impact, carbon-neutral activities.Note: Pelo is open annually from 01 March to 30 November. As an exception, the camp will remain open till mid-December 2020. With a change in operations for the following period as 01 March 2021 to mid-February 2022.Unique Selling PointsIntimate, unpretentious campPure water experience primarily floating through the Okavango channels on mekoroLocated deep in the core of the Delta
