Situated in the game rich Khwai area on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta, lies the sophisticated Machaba Camp. The setting is exquisite and guests will fall in love with the understated elegant colonial architeture of Machaba. Wake up to the sounds of hippo wallowing in the Delta and enjoy outdoor dining on the banks of the Khwai.

Ten luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers are located between tall riverine trees. Each of the tents have views of the Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve. From these tented verandas one can watch the daily parade of animals coming down to drink at the river in front of camp. Machaba, despite its obvious luxury is still an affordable camp.

Khwai Tented Camp has modern and spacious Serengeti-style tents, with stylish and comfortable interiors and private bathrooms with running water. The camp maintains a genuine safari camp feel. The camp comprises of 6 elegant tents perched on wooden decking overlooking the tranquil waters of the lagoon. The camp exudes the charm and aura of the old Africa in a new era, and provides a truly authentic African safari experience.

The camp offers visitors several unique ways to experience Africa. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – guests at Khwai Tented Camp are able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive. This activity, along with the guided walking safaris, is not usually permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserves, and allows guests to get an up close and personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and / or more elusive animals. The camp also provides the opportunity to explore the great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands as well as open grasslands and banks of the Khwai River on foot.

Linyanti Ebony is one of African Bush Camps family-focused camps situated in a private wilderness concession in the Chobe Enclave. The Chobe Enclave is home to large herds of elephants - giving you the perfect opportunity to encounter these giants up close.

Linyanti Ebony exudes a sense of charm and is built on raised wooden decks which overlooks the Linyanti Marshlands. Being in a remote area, the camp is designed to blend in with its natural surroundings with 4 traditional Meru-styled tents. The family tent consists of 2 interleading rooms, making the camp ideal for both families and groups seeking an authentic safari experience.

There are a variety of ways to explore the area, including morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris, or nature walks for children under 16yrs. When water levels allow explore the Linyanti wetlands on a mokoro. And, if staying 3 nights or more, take to the skies and take in the beauty of the area and its wildlife with a complementary helicopter safari.

Full Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

On arrival, after clearing customs and immigration, proceed to the Arrivals Hall. Here you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative for your charter flight to Machaba Camp where you will stay for three nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Day 2

Enjoy one full day of activities at Machaba Camp.

Game drives are conducted in the mornings and afternoon/evenings at camp. They usually last about three hours each and are conducted along the river systems and flood plains around the camp. The wildlife in the area is prolific and chances are good to see some of the larger predators, herds of elephant and buffalo and all the plains animals that occur here. Night drives are conducted in the early evening offering one a chance to see the smaller more nocturnal animals with spotlights.

There is no better way of enjoying the crystal-clear waters of the Delta and its wildlife than by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe), which reveal the smaller fascinating critters and striking waterbirds of the region. These excursions take place in the mornings or longer day trips can be arranged. Explore the islands around camp and come back rested and rejuvenated.

Walking safaris are also conducted generally in the morning with armed guides. The walks are leisurely and time is taken to observe the smaller things in the bush that one normally misses when driving. Walking is weather dependent, or dependent on the condition of the terrain.

Visits to the local community can be arranged at an additional cost. Spa treatments (massages and facials) can be done in your room at an additional cost.

After breakfast and a morning activity you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to to Khwai Tented Camp where you will stay for two nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

After breakfast and a morning activity you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Linyanti Ebony Camp where you will stay for two nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Day 6

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities. Built on raised decking overlooking the Linyanti Marsh, this 10-bedded intimate tented camp offers you stunning views of the Linyanti River. Game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, walking excursions with an armed professional guide, boating and fishing along water lagoons, and mokoro excursions are all activities on offer to provide you the opportunity to enjoy this unique riverscape up close. Water activities are available when water levels permit.
