On arrival in Windhoek, after clearing customs and immigration, collect your luggage and proceed to the Arrivals Hall. Here you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative who will assist you to your scheduled charter flight to Kulala Desert Lodge where you will stay for three nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Kulala Desert Lodge. Activities revolve around early morning guided drives to the dunes of Sossusvlei through the private gate on the Tsauchab River, as well as nature drives and walks on the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve.

Visit world-famous Sossusvlei, an enormous clay pan, flanked by the famous sand dunes that flush red in the early morning sun – as well as the name of the area in general. Close to the Sossusvlei pan is Dead Vlei, another pan where water once flowed, but now all that remains are the skeletons of trees reach up out of the cracked earth.

This fascinating geographical formation is well worth a visit. The result of millions of years where water carved its way into the earth, Sesriem Canyon is today three kilometres long. Views from the top are breathtaking while walks through the canyon reveal distinct geographical layers which were laid down over aeons.

Nature drives in the 37,000 hectare private Kulala Wilderness Reserve offers visitors exclusive wildlife-viewing opportunities which include the likes of oryx, bat-eared fox, brown hyaena and birdlife. Drinks stops in scenic parts of the reserve are a highlight.

Walking trails focus on becoming immersed in this remote area, as well as its scenic beauty and the fascinating, and surprisingly, diverse array of insects, reptiles and rodents which make this dry and harsh region their home. The Tsauchab River Trail takes a stroll along a fascinating dry riverbed.

Eco-sensitive quad-biking through the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve will allow you to take in those incredible views and to catch a glimpse of the denizens of the desert.

Set out in the late afternoon for a nature drive and complete your excursion in a remote and dramatic spot on the reserve sipping a gin and tonic while watching the sun goes down.

After dark, another realm of the Namib awakes. Walks reveal some of these captivating critters such as dancing white lady spiders and scorpions which fluoresce under UV lights.

The balloon safari on the Kulala Wilderness Reserve offers a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert, with a champagne breakfast being served at your landing site. *This activity is at additional cost and is closed from 15 January to 15 February.

Ride through some of the most spectacular and unusual scenery on the planet on well-schooled horses. After the horse riding safari, watch the sun go down at a beautiful spot while sipping a drink and then canter back under the stars in time for dinner. *This activity is at additional cost and on request.

After breakfast and a morning activity you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Doro Nawas Camp where you will stay for three nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Doro Nawas Camp. An excellent base for self-drive and fly-in guests, activities here include nature drives and exploratory hikes to catch a glimpse of desert-adapted life, as well as discovering the geology and ancient rock engravings of this stark landscape.

While the landscape does not support huge herds, desert-adapted life such as springbok, gemsbok and even elephant do occur. We therefore offer nature drives in open Land Rovers which can end with a river lunch or scenic walk ending at “Little Table Mountain.”

Visit the ancient San rock art at Twylfelfontein, a World Heritage Site, as well as the Petrified Forest, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes, all incredible geological phenomena.

Back of house tours, and camp chats about the Doro !Nawas Conservancy, the Damara/Nama language and traditions all give insight into the community, while the Damara Living Museum shows off the traditional culture of the Damara people.

Learn more about the flora and fauna in this incredibly harsh environment on a guided nature walk. Adaptation to the desert environment is the miracle of all that survives here.
