Day 2

Enjoy a full day of game viewing activities at Jacana Camp. Being a ‘water camp,’ Jacana Camp offers primarily water activities with game drives during the summer months – dependent on water levels and time of year.

Glide seamlessly along the waterways of Jacana in a mokoro (a traditional dug-out canoe and spot some of the small fascinating creatures of the Delta – maybe even hippo and crocodile – as well as the wealth of waterbirds of the region. Alternatively, take the 12-seater or 7-seater boat in the waterways to the east of camp allow for good game viewing in the channels further away.

Land-based game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers are offered when the inundation levels are lower, typically in the summer months. These drives reveal the likes of elephant, zebra and other plains game, and potentially the predators of the region.

Fishing with a limited supply of basic equipment (spinner rods and a small range of lures) is on offer seasonally on a catch-and-release basis.

Day 4

Enjoy a full day of game viewing activities at Little Vumbura Plains Camp. Due to its location, Little Vumbura offers a number of ways to observe the spectacular wildlife of this diverse concession.

Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 Land Rovers allow you to get close to animals in the savannah areas where lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo along with extensive plains game roam. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. Porcupine, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and lesser bushbaby are just some of these.

Explore the Okavango by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) often providing up close and personal sightings of tiny frogs and exciting birdlife. Water-level dependent, boating is another idyllic form of water wildlife viewing. Sights of hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways.

A nature walk with a skilled, armed guide is a wonderful way of getting close to nature and observing the smaller creatures and plants you miss when traveling by vehicle. (on request and subject to availability of a qualified guide)

Visit one of the traditional villages of the Okavango Community Trust, meet the people and learn about the local culture. (additional cost)

Day 7

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Duma Tau Camp. With incredible habitat diversity, Linyanti is a haven for wildlife, on land and water. Game viewing and river excursions are on top of the agenda here.

Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers reveal the rich wildlife of the area where predators and elephant are often the highlight. Plains game and diverse birdlife also offer fantastic sightings. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. These often include lesser bushbaby, spring hare, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and, if you are extremely lucky, the elusive pangolin!

Nature walks with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things you miss when traveling by vehicle. (depending on availability of a qualified guide)

There are a number of platforms and hides from which to view and photograph animals and birds. One of the best hides is right at the source of the Savute Channel, from which many species of game and birdlife can be seen.

Water levels permitting, explore the Linyanti River by boat or barge, the latter perfect for picnics or sundowners or searching out those elusive birds so prevalent in the channels.

Seasonal fishing is permitted on a catch-and-release basis. The camp has a small stock of basic rods and reels.

Birding is outstanding here, from Okavango specials to mopane woodland species. The Savute Channel is famous for its high concentration of eagles and raptors; this area is internationally recognised as an IBA (Important Bird Area).
