Botwana Emerald Safari

Day 1Arrive Johannesburg

Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met and assisted. Overnight at an airport hotel.

Day 2Johannesburg / Maun / Okavango Delta

Depart Johannesburg by scheduled flight to Maun, Botswana. Upon arrival, transfer by air to your camp in the Okavango Delta where you will stay for two nights. Described as “the jewel” of the Kalahari, the Okavango Delta is a tranquil and isolated oasis set in Botswana’s harsh and arid desert – widely considered as being one of Africa’s best safari destinations with its special diversity of fauna and flora. This afternoon, silently glide through calm waters of the delta in your mokoro – a traditional dugout canoe. (BD)

Day 3Okavango Delta

Enjoy morning and afternoon activities in the delta, one of the largest and most important inland wetlands of the world. Activities include exploring the Okavango by mokoro, motorboat, or guided walks on the islands. This is the land of the sitatunga antelope and Pel’s fishing-owl. (BLD)

Day 4Okavango Delta

After the morning activity and breakfast, transfer by air to your next camp for a three night stay. Depending on your camp, on higher ground one could see lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, tsessebe and red lechwe, while hippo, sitatunga antelope and crocodile reside in the deeper, lily-filled lagoons. Nocturnal species can be observed on night drives and the variety of birdlife is impressive. (BLD)

Day 5 & 6 Okavango Delta

The Okavango is home to large numbers of wildlife from common mammals and birdlife to those that are not often seen elsewhere, such as sitatunga, wild dog, and wattled crane. Your camp offers both land and water-based activities such as game drives, mokoro, motor boat, walking, and fishing (activities vary per camp). (BLD)

Day 7Okavango Delta / Linyanti region

After the morning activity and breakfast, transfer by air to your next camp for a two night stay. The Savuti Channel which runs through the Linyanti region, is deep, clear waterway harboring hippo and aquatic life. The Savute area is home to one of the densest dry-season concentrations of elephant in Africa! After settling in, depart on an afternoon activity. (BLD)

Day 8Linyanti region

Enjoy morning and afternoon activities including game drives, night drives, hides, fishing and birding. Game concentrations are also high, and apart from abundant plains game, species such as roan and sable antelope, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, black-backed jackal and wild dog may also be encountered. (BLD)
