Day 2
After breakfast you will be transferred to Arusha Airport for the scheduled charter flight to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival at Kuro Airstrip you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Oliver’s Camp where you will stay for two nights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
Discover Africa, just as it should be. Oliver’s Camp – in the remote southern reaches of Tarangire National Park – has just 10 beautifully appointed safari tents in a spectacular location close to the game-dense Silale Swamps and overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools. Oliver’s was inspired by the trailblazing camps that pioneered the early days of safari. It gives you direct access to the dense concentration of wildlife you will find year-round in this remote region, as well as the chance to enjoy walking safaris and fly camping. Oliver’s is intimate and personal, staffed by a world-class team that has worked together for many years to perfect a safari experience that guests consistently rank among their best.
Day 3
Enjoy one full day of game viewing activities at Oliver’s Camp.
The range of activities on offer from Oliver’s Camp is unique inside a Tanzanian national park. This unpretentious camp is for travelers who want to feel and hear Africa around them on a walking safari, drink in the cool moist air of a night drive and inhale the fragrant scent of the African bush.
Game drives
With a reputation for fantastic guiding, Oliver’s game drives take you to the heart of the action every time. Drives are offered twice daily in the cooler mornings and evenings. Most of our game drives make use of an open game-viewing vehicle – this lets you sit at different levels and gives everyone a ‘window’ seat. Our open vehicles have power points where you can recharge your devices, and are fitted with fridges to keep your drinks deliciously frosty. We do have a closed game-viewing vehicle fitted with a cooler box for chilled drinks that may be used if available. Private vehicles are available at an additional cost. (Note that families with children under 12 must book a private game-viewing vehicle.)
Night drives
As darkness falls, Tanzania’s nightlife comes out to play. Discover the magic of the bush under the stars on an exhilarating night drive from Oliver’s Camp.
Walking safaris
The specialty of Oliver’s, the privilege of walking in this spectacular area is exhilarating and memorable. One of our experienced and highly knowledgeable guides and an armed national park ranger allow you to discover the most remote parts of Tarangire.
Hot-air balloon safaris (additional cost)
There is nothing quite like gliding serenely over the vast plains of the Tarangire as the wildlife teems below, on a romantic and evocative balloon safari.
Day 4
After a morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred to Kuro Airstrip by camp vehicle for the scheduled charter flight to Lake Manyara Airstrip. Upon arrival you will be met by camp vehicle and transferred to The Highlands Ngorongoro where you will stay for two nights.
The Highlands Camp is set in a perfectly private location at the edge of the mountain forest that hugs the Olmoti Volcano, 40 kilometers to the north of the famous Ngorongoro Crater. The highest-altitude property within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), the camp has heart-stopping views spanning east and west: take in both sunset and sunrise framed by the Gol Mountains in the northwest, Empakaai Crater in the east and the Olmoti Crater rim to the south.
Time permitting, depart an an afternoon Olmoti climb. Starting directly from camp, the Olmoti climb follows an ancient Maasai cattle trail through mountain forest, grasslands and rocky outcrops. Make the most of outstanding birding opportunities and the chance to see a vast array of butterfly species. At the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the crater below.
Day 5
Enjoy a full day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater.
Enjoy a game drive in one of the most game-rich areas in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast, you descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Explore the vast 300km2 floor with an experienced guide and stop for lunch in a shady spot under the trees, maximizing your time in this unforgettable landscape. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. It’s an awesome wildlife experience. You will return to the lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 6
After breakfast you will be transferred to Lake Manyara Airstrip for the scheduled charter flight to Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Olakira Camp where you will stay for three nights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
Day 7 – 8
Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Olakira Camp.
The Serengeti together with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park form Africa’s most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomizes Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further.
Tanzania’s famous migration is a restless thing: shifting with the seasons as the great herds of wildebeest wander between Kenya and Tanzania. And moving with them are the Olakira camps… as the migration progresses, so the camp’s luxury tents pick up their feet and follow. In the dry months of winter Olakira Mara River enjoys some of the best views of the herds migrating out of Kenya across the treacherous Mara River. By November, with the herds on the march, Olakira swiftly follows to witness the incredible calving in the great grassy plains of the southern Serengeti.
Wildlife viewing and bird watching game drives are offered twice per day. Experienced guides encourage guests to see and experience the Serengeti through their eyes, sharing a world of small and large wonders that only they truly know and understand. Guests can arrange full days in the bush with picnic lunches at an additional cost.
Day 9
After a morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for the scheduled charter flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. A day use room is reserved for your comfort at Airport Planet Lodge until your evening departure.
