Full Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro, after completing immigration and customs formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the Arrivals Hall. Here you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative for your private road transfer to Arusha Coffee Lodge, where you will be staying for one night.
Day 2
After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your scheduled charter flight to the Serengeti. On arrival, you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative for your road transfer to Taasa Lodge, where you will be staying for three nights.
Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.
Day 3 – 4
Enjoy two full days at Taasa.
During certain months of the year (typically June – October) the migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra make for one of the natural world’s most spectacular sights. River crossings, especially, are not to be missed. After dithering back and forth on the banks one brave wildebeest jumps in, with hundreds following behind. The migration is a phenomenon that must be seen to be believed. You’ll be mesmerized by the sights and sounds of the natural world at its most impressive. TAASA is ideally situated for the Northern Serengeti migration towards the Mara River.
NIGHT DRIVES
Load into our open-sided Toyota Land Cruiser with warm blankets and head out in the dark of night under starlit skies. The experience of a game drive at night is very different from one during the day and you may see striped hyena on the prowl or lions on hunt. Your Maasai guide will be in his tracker’s chair mounted on the vehicle front with his floodlight sweeping for reflective eyes of predators. One never knows what will be lurking in the dark, but it is guaranteed to be electrifying and totally unlike your daytime game drives.
WALKING SAFARIS
Walking in the bush, surrounded by all the sights, sounds and smells of Africa is completely different and more personal experience than a drive in a Safari vehicle. Learn about medicinal plants, how to start a fire with sticks, and the wildlife you might encounter.
BALLOON SAFARIS
Experience the expanse of the Serengeti from above on a magical balloon safari. This incredible experience is available from the Lobo area operated by Adventures Aloft Serengeti. Their two A415 balloons from Cameroon Balloons have a flying capacity of 16 passengers.
MAASAI VILLAGE
The Maasai are among the best known of African tribes due to their adherence of distinctive customs and dress. Whereas many of the Maasai bomas found in the Northern Tanzanian Safari circuit are geared entirely towards visiting tourists, the Maasai of Ololosokwan remain unaffected by large scale tourism and are therefore always enthusiastic about sharing their cultural beliefs with the few visitors they receive. A visit among the local people of Tanzania can easily become one of the most rewarding experiences of a visit to Africa.
Day 5
After breakfast and a morning activity, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Manyara. On arrival, you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative for your road transfer to Gibb’s Farm, where you will be staying for three nights.
Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.
Day 6 – 7
After breakfast, descend into the crater for full day game viewing with picnic lunch. Here you can see a spectacular concentration of wildlife, including the big five. Drive across the dense forest and near the soda lake and enjoy viewing a variety of bird life. Ascend to the lodge from the 2000ft. deep crater. This magnificent natural amphitheater is said to have the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa, including a high density of lions and thousands of flamingos. The ever-changing mood of this great amphitheater will hold your attention every second. Formed by the collapsed cone of a Great Rift Valley volcano some three million years ago, the Ngorongoro Crater is a spectacular natural sanctuary to more than 30,000 animals. More than 350 species of birds have been recorded. Its steep, unbroken rim plunges 2,000 feet to a 102 square mile floor. It is known as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Its vastness and beauty are truly overwhelming. Many scientists suggest that before its eruption, this volcano was larger than Mt. Kilimanjaro. The crater contains a variety of ecosystems and an astounding concentration of birds and animals. Encounter massive herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelles. This area affords an opportunity to spot the Big Five, which includes African elephant, leopard, the black-mane lion, buffalo, and the rare black rhinoceros.
Day 8
After a breakfast and a morning activity, you will be transferred to Airport Planet Lodge where you have a day room to rest before your departure flight. Return home, taking with you the sights, sounds, and memories of an incredible African safari!
