The tranquil setting just outside of the main town centre allows guest the relaxed enjoyment of the natural beauty that the Garden Route is famous for while the restaurants, activities and shops of the town of Knysna are just a 5 minute drive away. In-house activities including discounted golf, cycling, birding, hiking, kayaking, beach, and all watersports are available and Kanonkop House is ideally situated to take advantage of all Garden Route Tourist attractions. The hosts are always on-hand to make recommendations and arrange bookings for guests. The property only has 7 rooms and is not open to the public so that guests can enjoy true privacy.  For families and small groups the Kanonkop Team hosts guests at a selection of exclusive-use Villas situated throughout Knysna from the beach and waterways of the lagoon to the beautiful local golf courses. Packages at the Villas can be tailored from those preferring self catering to those who require full hosting services.

Luxury Lagoon facing executive suites

3 Large executive king bed suites each with full en suite bathrooms. Each room has a private balcony or deck with breathtaking views featuring the indigenous forest, Knysna Lagoon, the famous 'Heads' to the Indian Ocean beyond.

Luxury Garden Suites

2 Large luxury king bed rooms. Each room has a full en-suite bathroom and opens via glass sliding doors to a large deck overlooking the swimming pool and garden with interrupted views of the Knysna lagoon in the distance.

Waterside House Thesen Island

Waterside house is a rare gem on Thesen Island built in the colonial maritime architectural style. Walk through the front door into pure peace and tranquillity. The downstairs floor decorated in harmonious water colours consists of two en-suite bedrooms and an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. One bedroom is a double and the second bedroom is a twin. Both rooms have a shower and toilet en-suite. Leading off the kitchen (which is fully equipped with every modern appliance) and dining area, is a spacious sun deck with an outside lounge and jetty down to the canal. Here is the perfect place for sundowners and a braai (barbecue) in true South African style. There is a second deck off the lounge which is the perfect place to curl up and read a book while listening to the water lapping on the sides of the jetty. Upstairs is a beautiful main bedroom, study and full en-suite bathroom which has a private sun deck leading off it for those much needed quiet moments. The second upstairs bedroom has an en-suite shower and toilet and its own sun deck. Waterside house has full satellite DSTV for those guests who would like to catch up on the news, sport or would just like to relax in front of a movie. The Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. If you wish, Kanonkop House will host your entire stay with personal housekeeping and a cook to prepare your breakfasts (the most important meal of the day), as well as full concierge available 24 hours a day.

Penthouse Suite – Selwyn suite

Our Penthouse Suite is the newest addition to Kanonkop House. It has panoramic views of the lagoon, two private balconies and is magnificent in every way. It has a fully stocked complimentary mini bar, tea and coffee making facility which includes an espresso machine. This suite also includes a sitting area and stunning en-suit bathroom with a view of the lagoon and Knysna Heads.

Diamond Penthouse Suite

This suite is the newest addition to Kanonkop House. Completed in October 2017. This room is aptly named ‘Diamond’ The room comprises of a separate bathroom which overlooks the lagoon and has a private deck. A separate toilet and shower with a His and Hers hand basin. A rain shower and slipper bath both have lagoon views. The shower and toilet doors have been sandblasted in a magnificent diamond pattern which really makes this bathroom a feature on its own. This encapsulates the diamond theme of the room beautifully. The bedroom has feature fire place, and large lounge area with a picturesque view of the lagoon. Two folding staking glass doors opens up to a private deck and seating area to our stunning indigenous garden and forest, with spectacular views.
